Over the past 23 years, I’ve learned that not all clients are proactive in expressing their satisfaction or dissatisfaction.
Some will voice out their compliment or dissatisfaction proactively.
Others won’t give any feedback even if one asks for it.
In fact, the crazy method of “forcing” a client to give feedback is by outrightly not delivering agreed-upon results.
I conclude, even though some of you will raise an eyebrow for my use of the verb “conclude,” that it’s human nature to have more appetite for expressing dissatisfactions than appreciations.
But who, in their sane mind, would fail all expectations just to consistently receive feedback from one raging client to another?
This situation inspires me to create an environment that will make our clients at iPresence Digital Marketing feel comfortable to give feedback.
What better motivation is there than incentivizing their efforts in giving feedback?
Here’s how it works: Our client who have availed of our content writing and virtual assistance (VA) services will get a 2% discount for the next month’s retainer’s fee, in the equivalent of additional words or VA hours, if they did not miss any of the weekly feedback sessions from last month.
On the other hand, we will make it 4% if we missed any of the weekly feedback sessions from last month.
Positive external reinforcement. Negative internal reinforcement. A balance of yin and yang, so to say.
I’ve seen first-hand how a team or an organization flourishes when there’s an open and consistent schedule of communication.
When I worked in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry, there were days when clients would just want us to say hi’s and hello’s to each other and not proceed with the formal reporting procedure because they already read the reports before the meeting, and there was nothing new to discuss.
Maybe you’re saying under your nose, “They could have emailed you that there was no meeting on that day. Why did they waste everyone’s time for logging in a meeting only to exchange hi’s and hello’s?”
No, logging in a meeting just to ask “How’s the weather there?” isn’t a waste of anyone’s time. It’s an emotional and relational exercise to strengthen the muscles of our working relationship.
Mind you, these words come from me, a highly introverted, non-sociable person who would rather be alone in a room than mingle with people.
Because of running a business, I’ve learned to recognize the value of the extreme opposite of my personality.
This incentive program is a win-win for us and our clients.
We believe that both parties benefit from open communication.
Our clients gain valuable insights into the progress of their digital marketing campaigns when they actively and regularly engage in weekly feedback sessions.
But wait a minute, who do you think wins more here?
CLIENTS – all day, all night!
It’s like a 51:49 deal.
