Content writing has become so much easier than it used to be in 2001 (when I started as a freelance content writer) since the launch of ChatGPT on November 30, 2022.
Back in the days, we were only pertaining to plagiarism-free content when we talked about content originality.
Nowadays, originality has crossed the borders of plagiarism.
When Google Answers a Close-ended Question Open-endedly
Did you know that one can give you unoriginal content none of the plagiarism checkers on the internet can detect?
I know you will tell me, “But Google isn’t against AI-generated content.”
But neither did Google literally say, “No, we’re not going to penalize copied-and-pasted content from ChatGPT and other AI-powered content generators.”
When the interviewer throws a close-ended question, and the guest does not give a close-ended answer, doesn’t that make you think, “Why didn’t he just answer with a straight yes or no?”
I am not a fan of direct quotations, but I’ll violate my personal rules in writing by citing Google Search’s official statement regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in creating content:
When it comes to automatically generated content, our guidance has been consistent for years. Using automation—including AI—to generate content with the primary purpose of manipulating ranking in search results is a violation of our spam policies.
Kudos to the writer and editor of that blog from Google Search Central Blog for creatively writing the message in two separate sentences to get away with the coordinating conjunction BUT.
Maybe it’s to improve the readability score of that paragraph or maintain a neutral stance on AI-generated content.
I believe it’s more of the latter than the former.
If it weren’t, why didn’t Google give a straight “yes” answer when asked a close-ended question?
I don’t need Superman’s X-ray vision to see the semantics behind the syntax.
Don’t get me wrong. I am not against Google Search’s take on this matter.
I, and the entire iPresence Digital Marketing, am an ally of Google and other search engines in producing content that brings value to the table.
That is why we at iPresence Digital Marketing are not nonchalant about using ChatGPT and other AI-powered tools.
It is clear that Google Search wants the best content for its users – and so do we!
When the Joke Became a Catalyst for a Game-changing Strategy
Do you still remember BuildMyRank?
BuildMyRank (BMR) was a Private Blog Network.
Although we’ve never provided link-building services since our founding in 2001, link-builders need articles.
We had hundreds upon hundreds of orders for BMR articles from 2010 to 2012.
Those were the years when money was falling from the sky, so to say.
But on March 2012, Google deindexed the majority of their blog networks as a penalty for being the source of paid links.
That action traces back to Google’s iron-clad policy against spam.
From then on, how we understood content creation evolved.
I still remember my opening statement when I called for a meeting with our Content Team, “If they were to throw digital marketing agencies into hell according to who pollutes the internet the most, would they throw us first or last?”
It was meant to be a joke.
My team took it seriously.
It birthed our renewed, high standards in content creation.
I wanted to shout, “Joke, joke, joke!” but I didn’t.
I realized it would reveal even more how terrible a comedian I was.
Being terrible at cracking jokes has its own perks, too.
Suit yourself, Jaycee. 😀
The Alignment of the Stars
From then on, we’ve ensured that our content writing standards are aligned with Google Search’s commitment to high-quality content and adhere to their anti-spam policies.
Google Search doesn’t raise an eyebrow at how you produce content as long as it adds value to its users.
We will be judged not based on HOW but WHY we write content.
Google Search has proprietary automated ranking systems that put a score to this WHY.
It’s almost impossible, if not totally impossible, to circumnavigate the design rationale of their ranking systems.
Simply put, design rationale is a collection of principles behind how and why that software was created.
The principles behind Google Search’s automated ranking systems are the same four pillars of our work at iPresence Digital Marketing.
Expertise. Experience. Authoritativeness. Trustworthiness.
It’s the E-E-A-T principle.
Content originality requires E-E-A-T.
Who among you asked ChatGPT to rewrite someone else’s article and claimed rewritten version as yours?
Raise a hand in the comment section.
Only someone with a single-digit IQ score would admit to that.
Why did I even bother to ask that question?
But if you’re guilty, I highly recommend you plead guilty immediately because you’ll get caught red-handed.
There’s a way to easily spot whether an article was written from scratch or rewritten by ChatGPT.
Apply EEAT on Your Business First
The EEAT principle is not only for ranking on search engines, but also for your business’s reputation.
How’s your TRUSTWORTHINESS score if you rewrote someone else’s article using ChatGPT and billed a client for original content?
Your trustworthiness score can easily plummet once your client checks the originality of your article using an AI content checker.
If a client chose you because he knew you would write original content, don’t you think he didn’t keep a certain level of skepticism in him, having known that ChatGPT could regurgitate someone else’s content?
Any seasoned entrepreneur always keeps a certain amount of skepticism for himself.
Never underestimate any client.
There’s a way to detect AI’s footprint on any piece of content specifically written for digital marketing and SEO.
I’ve found Originality.AI as the most accurate AI content detector on the internet.
Why Use AI Content Detector?
I’ll say what you’ll think even before you’ll think it.
“Jaycee, you don’t trust your writers?”
Heck, I can’t even trust myself sometimes.
Happy now?
Pretend I didn’t say that.
Here’s a more politically correct response one would expect from a man wearing a well-tailored suit and eyeglasses:
Using an AI content detector is a proactive damage control mechanism for any content writing agency. In this age of AI, consider it a command, not a suggestion.
Remember, always maintain a certain degree of skepticism in everything you do.
It doesn’t matter if you submitted nine viral articles and made your client tens of thousands of dollars.
Try this: Just for once, send him a 100% ChatGPT-rewritten article.
Later on, he found the crime’s evidence.
There’s no other suspect but you.
It tainted how his followers viewed his experience, expertise, authority, and trustworthiness in his niche.
One of these two things can happen:
A: He’ll give you your one-time pardon.
B: He’ll show you the door. Maybe he’ll make someone’s head roll on the floor, too. Please don’t ask me whose head it’s going to be!
Whatever happens, it also taints how your client sees your experience, expertise, authority, and trustworthiness as a content provider.
Certainly, that’s not a situation where anyone wants to be.
Is ChatGPT-rewritten Content Detectable?
The answer can be yes or no.
It is a yes if your AI content-checker is trained under an advanced model such as Originality.AI.
I have tried every AI content detector you will find on Google’s first and second pages.
Only Originality.AI detected the ChatGPT-rewritten article as AI-generated with such a level of accuracy.
Originality.AI is a pre-paid AI content checker. I pay $0.01 per 100 words.
Any entrepreneur would try the free ones, of course.
Who wouldn’t want to save dimes?
A dime saved is a dime earned.
Unfortunately, I would have a more painful than profitable experience using the free AI content checkers.
Why?
The top free AI content detectors failed to read the ChatGPT-rewritten article being AI-generated.
If the variance were only 5%, I would find it negligible and use these free AI content detectors.
However, the difference between Originality.AI and the rest is like the distance between the Philippines and the US.
Don’t even ask how difficult it is for a Filipino to get a US Visa! 😀
I guess it’s better to see the results below, right?
Disclaimer: Originality.AI did not sponsor this article. It is I who pay for their service.
I wrote this article to let you know how we, here at iPresence Digital Marketing, ensure that you get the best bang for your buck when you avail of our content writing service.
Can’t Plagiarism Checkers Detect ChatGPT-rewritten Content?
No, they can’t.
Copyscape’s, Quetext’s, and Grammarly’s plagiarism-checking features can only do a word-for-word comparison between publicly available articles on the internet and the text you’re checking.
If a dishonest guy rewrites a ChatGPT-generated article, whether manually or through ChatGPT, these plagiarism detectors cannot recognize the rewritten text because it still needs to be publicly published online.
Here’s proof.
To Bring It All Together
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of outsourcing your content to a content writing agency that truly understands the meaning of content originality in this time of AI.
Telling ChatGPT to rewrite someone else’s article or a ChatGPT-generated content doesn’t reflect what Google means by experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness.
Hire a writer who understands your users’ intent.
Does your writer know what your audience hopes to find?
The content writing agency is only as good as its leader.
Are you ready to be desirably different and boldly better than your competitors whose understanding of content originality is dated pre-ChatGPT?
That’s a no-brainer!
You’re a smart digital marketer.
Smart people only do business with their kind.
